The latest box office information for the 27th installment of the "Detective Conan" movie series, "Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Pentagram" (released on April 12), has been announced. In 52 days since its release, the film has surpassed 10.06 million viewers and 14.4 billion yen in revenue, marking the first time a "Detective Conan" movie has achieved 10 million viewers.

"Detective Conan" is based on a detective manga about a high school detective, Shinichi Kudo, who is transformed into a child after being poisoned by men in black. Under the alias Conan Edogawa, he solves numerous difficult cases while pursuing the black organization. The manga started serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" in 1994, followed by a TV anime in 1996 and a theatrical movie in 1997. It has become a nationally popular series.

The latest movie, "Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Pentagram," attracted 630,000 viewers and grossed 960 million yen on its opening day. In 45 days, it surpassed 9.77 million viewers and 14.01 billion yen, breaking the record of the previous film, "Detective Conan: The Black Iron Submarine" (2023), which grossed 13.88 billion yen, making it the highest-grossing film in the series. With this milestone of surpassing 10 million viewers, Toho expressed their joy, stating, "Despite surpassing the Golden Week, 'The Million Dollar Pentagram' maintained its momentum into June, surpassing the previous film's pace, and has finally achieved 10 million viewers for the first time in the series!"

"From mid-May, screenings allowing audience participation titled 'Shout Your Love! Million Dollar Cheering Screenings' were held, generating positive feedback on social media like, 'The unity in the venue was incredible,' 'The timely comments during scenes made me laugh,' and 'Singing the theme song together at the end was moving.' This success has continued a month and a half after the release," they explained.

"Additionally, new screening formats, such as auto-controlled penlight screenings and English-subtitled screenings, have been implemented, allowing many customers to enjoy the film from various angles. As the film's title suggests, it is close to surpassing the revenue equivalent to ten times the 'Million Dollar Night View' of Hakodate. The story is set in Hakodate and features a clash between Heiji Hattori and Kaitou Kid. Heiji, who has missed numerous opportunities to confess his feelings to Kazuha, faces off against his old rival, Kid. In a past incident involving the Conch Pearl "Fairy's Lips," Heiji almost kissed Kazuha, who was disguised as Kid.

Will Heiji, who becomes a bumbling detective around Kazuha, finally repay his debt to Kid and confess to Kazuha in the latest movie? Supporting characters Momiji Ooka, Iori Muga, and Soshi Okita also make appearances.
