The creditless opening video for the upcoming TV anime Hell Teacher Nube—set to premiere on July 2 (airing Wednesdays at 11:45 PM, with the first episode airing at 11:15 PM)—was released on June 26. Alongside the video, preview scenes and the synopses for Episodes 1 and 2 were also revealed. Streaming information was announced as well.

The opening sequence, released ahead of the first broadcast, is packed with chilling horror elements. Set to the catchy tune of the opening theme “P0WER -Evil Spirit Begone-” by Shintenchi Kaibyaku Shudan: Zigzag, it highlights the cheerful students of Dōmori Elementary and the lurking monsters nearby. Also featured are the key characters: Nūbē, who fights to protect his students, as well as Tamamo Kyōsuke and Yukime.

Episode 1: The Bug with 99 Legs

Meisuke Nueno, a new teacher assigned to Domori Elementary, seems a bit unreliable at first glance. However, he is the only teacher in Japan with spiritual powers. One day, something begins to change in his student Hiroshi Tateno—he’s overtaken by uncontrollable rage and seems like a different person. Concerned, his classmates worry about what’s happening. Nueno senses a mysterious presence behind the phenomenon and detects a hidden yōkai lurking in the background.

About Hell Teacher Nube

In the upcoming series, Nube springs into action across time and space to rescue his 5th grade class—students like Hiroshi and Kyoko—who have been trapped inside the world of ghost stories. This concept echoes the August 2024 one-shot titled Hell Teacher Nube: Hyaku Monogatari Kenbunroku, which depicted Nube and his allies entering a world of ghostly legends to save Hiroshi from being abducted by yokai.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999, Hell Teacher Nube follows the adventures of Meisuke Nueno—nicknamed Nube—an exorcist and schoolteacher gifted with the “Oni Hand,” a powerful demon arm. He protects his students from supernatural threats like yokai, ghosts, and curses in this school-based action-horror series.

Famous for its blend of urban legends, school ghost stories, and heartfelt drama, the franchise has sold over 29 million copies in total. The series later continued with Hell Teacher Nube NEO (2014–2019) and Hell Teacher Nube S (2018–2021). It also inspired a TV anime that aired from 1996 to 1997 and a 2014 live-action drama starring Ryuhei Maruyama of SUPER EIGHT.

In addition, a brand-new anime series is set to begin in July 2025. This will be the first animated installment in 26 years since the 1999 OVA Hell Teacher Nube: The Greatest Battle Ever!! The Arrival of Zekki!!. The upcoming anime will feature an updated storyline set in the present day. Ryotaro Okiayu will reprise his role as Meisuke Nueno (Nube), with Studio KAI producing the animation.
