The beloved Hell Teacher Nube manga series returns with a brand-new installment titled Hell Teacher Nube: Kai, which launched in the June 2025 issue of Saikyo Jump (Shueisha), released on May 2. Appearing on the cover and in full-color opening pages, the new series follows Nube as he leaps across time and space to rescue his 5th grade Class 3 students, including Hiro and Kyoko, who have been drawn into a supernatural world of ghost stories. Once again, Nube unleashes the demonic power sealed in his left hand—the Oni Hand—to protect his students at all costs.
In the first chapter, “Sakou”—a spirit previously sealed by Nube—suddenly returns, abducting Kyoko amid an argument with Hiro, setting the stage for a thrilling new arc.
Background on the Hell Teacher Nube Series
Hell Teacher Nube was originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999. Created by writer Sho Makura and artist Takeshi Okano, the story centers on Meisuke Nueno (nicknamed "Nube"), a schoolteacher with psychic powers and a demon-sealed left hand. He battles ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural threats to protect his students, blending horror with school action drama.
The series has been a long-running favorite, known for incorporating Japanese urban legends and ghost stories. It has sold over 29 million copies, including spin-offs such as Hell Teacher Nube NEO (2014–2019) and Hell Teacher Nube S (2018–2021). It was also adapted into a TV anime (1996–1997) and a live-action drama in 2014 starring Ryuhei Maruyama (SUPER EIGHT).
Prequel One-Shot and New Anime Adaptation
Ahead of the new serialization, a prequel one-shot titled Hell Teacher Nube: Hyakumonogatari Kenbunroku, published in Saikyo Jump in August 2024, is now available to read online at the magazine’s official website until June 3, 2025.
In addition, a brand-new anime adaptation is set to premiere this July—the first new animated project in 26 years since the 1999 OVA Hell Teacher Nube: The Greatest Battle!! The Arrival of Zekki!! This modernized retelling will once again feature Ryotaro Okiayu as the voice of Nube, with animation production handled by Studio KAI.
