New Visual and Short PV for Riyo Reaper from Gachiakuta Unveiled: Voice Actor Yumiri Hanamori Shares Insights

A new visual and short promotional video (PV) for Riyo Reaper—one of the main characters in the upcoming TV anime Gachiakuta, set to premiere in July 2025—has been revealed. Alongside this announcement, a comment from voice actor Yumiri Hanamori, who voices Riyo, has also been released.

Following the character visuals and PVs for Rudo, Enjin, and Zanka, Riyo’s visual and short PV now take center stage. Like Enjin and Zanka, Riyo is a “Giver”—a member of the “Act” cleaners who combat grotesque creatures born from trash, known as “Beasts.”

Wielding her personal “Tool”—a pair of scissors named The Ripper—Riyo skillfully eliminates Beasts with her swift footwork. Respected within the team, she combines lethal precision in battle with a lighthearted, whimsical demeanor in everyday life. This duality is part of what makes her so captivating. The newly released illustration was drawn by character designer and chief animation director Satoshi Ishino.

The visual shows Riyo confidently holding her beloved scissors, heading toward a confrontation. Her line, “It’s more exciting when the enemy’s strong, right?”, hints at her enjoyment of combat and offers a glimpse into her playful yet calculated personality.

Yumiri Hanamori described Riyo as “a girl who can easily slip into someone else’s space, but never lets anyone into her own—an elusive, black-cat-like character. She has a dangerous charm and an air of mystery. I tried to convey her emotions without over-expressing them in my voice performance.”

Additionally, the graffiti featured in the visual and video was personally designed by Gachiakuta’s original graffiti designer, Hideyoshi Anto. Featuring Roman letters and the series’ unique in-universe language, “Gachiakuta-go,” the graffiti captures the anime’s distinctive blend of street art and animation.

The short PV is filled with lines from the original manga that capture Riyo’s multifaceted nature—sometimes mischievous, sometimes rational—offering fans a dynamic preview of what’s to come.
