Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Movie Premieres September 19 with Stunning Character Visuals
The Chainsaw Man anime continues its bloody saga with the upcoming movie Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, officially set to premiere in Japan on September 19. Alongside the announcement, a set of 12 new character visuals has been revealed, spotlighting both returning favorites and new faces.
The film follows protagonist Denji, who is overjoyed at the chance to go on a date with his crush, Makima. During a rainstorm, he meets a mysterious girl named Reze who works at a café. As their relationship unfolds, the story takes a dramatic and action-packed turn that dives deeper into Denji’s turbulent world.
The newly released visuals include Chainsaw Man, Denji, Pochita, Makima, Aki Hayakawa, Power, Kobeni Higashiyama, Beam, the Violence Fiend, the Angel Devil, and from the movie’s new arc, Reze and Bomb. These 12 vibrant visuals highlight the characters’ distinctive personalities and roles in the story. Posters and a special 30-second teaser trailer will begin screening in theaters across Japan from April 4.
Chainsaw Man centers around Denji, a young boy living in extreme poverty who works as a devil hunter alongside the chainsaw devil Pochita. After being betrayed and killed, Denji forms a contract with Pochita and is resurrected as Chainsaw Man, a dark hero with a chainsaw engine for a heart. The story blends intense action with emotional depth and moral ambiguity, earning praise worldwide.
The original manga, created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018. With over 30 million copies of the manga in circulation, the series quickly rose in popularity thanks to its unpredictable plot twists and shocking developments. It claimed the top spot in the This Manga Is Amazing! 2021 male readers' category.
The manga's first part, the “Public Safety Arc,” concluded in December 2020. The second part began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in July 2022. The anime adaptation aired from October to December 2022, and the franchise has even expanded into a stage play.
