Anime Songs Make Up Only 3 Performances at Kohaku 2024
NHK revealed the setlist and highlights for the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, airing on December 31 (7:20 PM–11:45 PM JST, with a news break). This year, anime songs are noticeably fewer, with only three performances featuring anime themes.
Anime Song Highlights:
aiko (Red Team): Performing "Sōshi Sōai" from Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram. The show's original creator, Gosho Aoyama, will also appear as a guest judge and share a special message and illustration.
Creepy Nuts (White Team): Marking their first appearance, they will perform "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born", the opening theme for Mashle: Magic and Muscles – Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc.
Mrs. GREEN APPLE (White Team): Presenting "Lilac", the opening theme for Battery the Animation.
Comparison to Last Year’s Kohaku
In 2023, anime songs included performances by YOASOBI (Oshi no Ko), 10-FEET (The First Slam Dunk), Tatsuya Kitani (Jujutsu Kaisen), ano (Chainsaw Man), and MAN WITH A MISSION × milet (Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc). This year marks a significant reduction in anime-related performances.
