The story revolves around genetically modified humans (Coordinators) and natural humans (Naturals), who are divided into the military organizations ZAFT and the Earth Alliance, respectively, and depicts the struggles and growth of Kira Yamato, a Coordinator. The series not only appealed to existing fans but also attracted a significant female audience, achieving a peak viewership of 8.0%. It also sparked the second Gunpla boom among elementary school students, establishing itself as "the new generation of Gundam series."
The sequel TV series "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" aired from October 2004, surpassing the previous series with a peak viewership of 8.2% and exceeding 4 million units in cumulative package sales. The franchise has transcended the realm of TV anime, sweeping across Japan with its music, events, and more.
The completely new movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" continues the story from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," unfolding a new narrative in a world still engulfed by conflict, featuring characters like Kira, Athrun, and Shin.
