The "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series, which aired for 50 episodes starting from October 2002, was the first Gundam TV series produced in the 21st century. The story unfolds a conflict between genetically modified humans (Coordinators) and unmodified humans (Naturals), divided into the military organization ZAFT and the Earth Alliance, depicting the struggles and growth of the Coordinator protagonist Kira Yamato.

The series not only retained its fan base but also attracted a significant female audience, achieving a peak viewership rating of 8.0%. It sparked a second Gundam plastic model (Gunpla) boom among elementary school students, marking its legacy as a "new generation Gundam series."

For the MS/MA category, the Freedom Gundam took first place, Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam came in second, and Destiny Gundam SpecII was third.

Furthermore, the sequel TV series "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," which aired from October 2004, surpassed the previous series with a highest viewership rating of 8.2%. The series’ total package sales exceeded an astonishing 4 million units, transcending the television anime series category with its popularity in music, events, and more, sweeping across Japan.

The complete new work of the series, the movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," continues the story from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," unfolding a new story with Kira, Athrun, Shin, and others in a world still plagued by conflict.
