The synopsis and scene cuts for the first episode of the TV anime "Kaiju No. 8" (broadcast on TV Tokyo from 11 PM on the 13th) have been released.

Episode 1, titled "The Man Who Became a Monster," is set in Japan, which is routinely threatened by monsters. Kafka Hibino, who once aspired to join the "Japan Defense Force" to combat these monsters, has given up on his dreams and works in a specialized monster cleanup company. Living with the regret of not fulfilling his promise to fight alongside monsters with his childhood friend and Third Division Defense Force Captain, Mina Ashiro, Kafka's mundane days are shaken when he meets Ichikawa Reno, a junior aspiring to join the Defense Force.

"Kaiju No. 8" is set in a world where disasters (monsters) mercilessly invade everyday life, with Japan having one of the highest monster appearance rates in the world. The story follows 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, who works cleaning up the carcasses of monsters slain by the Defense Force. As he chases his dream of becoming a "Defense Force member," his body is transformed into that of a monster by a mysterious creature, making him known to the Japan Defense Force by the codename "Monster #8." Since its serialization began in July 2020 on "Shonen Jump+," it became the app's fastest to reach 30 million views. Its total comic circulation has exceeded 13 million copies, making it a flagship title. Additionally, it won the grand prize in the "Web Manga Category" of the "Next Manga Award 2021" user voting event announced on August 24, 2021, drawing significant attention among manga fans and achieving the highest annual comic volume sales in 2020.
