The third part of the "Anime Kaiju Hyakkei" series for the TV anime "Kaiju No. 8" (to be broadcast in April 2024) has been released.

"Kaiju Hyakkei" is a visual project published in "Shonen Jump+." It depicts everyday moments and battles with monsters that are not shown in the main story, allowing viewers to imagine a world where monsters appear, and enjoy the unique worldview of this work even more.

This month's visual, the third installment, features Soshiro Hoshina, the Vice-Captain of the Japan Defense Force’s 3rd Division. Hoshina, poised for battle, leaps from a building to confront a monster. His figure, illuminated by the lights of the building, is depicted with a sense of dynamism, foreshadowing intense battles.

Furthermore, on the rooftop of the building, there are also images of Mina Ashiro, the Captain of the 3rd Division of the Defense Force, and her partner, the monster hunter. Soshiro Hoshina, who excels in close combat, and Mina Ashiro, proficient in long-range attacks, form the main forces of the 3rd Division. This powerful image of the two preparing for battle heightens expectations for the action in the anime.

"Kaiju No. 8" is set in a world where disasters (monsters) mercilessly invade everyday life, with Japan, which has one of the highest monster emergence rates in the world,

as the setting. The protagonist, 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, works for a company cleaning up the remains of monsters defeated by the Defense Force. While pursuing his dream of becoming a "Defense Force officer," he is transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature and becomes known as "Monster No. 8" by the Japan Defense Force.

The serialization of "Kaiju No. 8" started in July 2020 on "Shonen Jump+," and it quickly became the fastest in the app's history to surpass 30 million views. The total circulation of the comics has exceeded 11 million copies, making it a flagship title. Moreover, it won the grand prize in the "Web Manga Category" of the "Next Manga Awards 2021" announced on August 24, 2021, based on user votes, and achieved the top annual sales for its first volume in 2020.
