Emi Shinohara, Voice of Sailor Jupiter, Passes Away at 61: Sailor Moon Colleagues Mourn
Voice actress Emi Shinohara, known for her roles as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon, passed away on the 8th at the age of 61, as announced by her agency, 81 Produce, on their official website on the 10th. Shinohara had been battling an illness. In response, Sailor Moon colleagues expressed their condolences on social media.
Kunihiko Ikuhara, the series director of Sailor Moon, shared: “Emi Shinohara-san, I’m simply heartbroken and lonely right now. I heard you were so happy about the flowers I sent to last year’s live show, and that made me happy too. Thank you for playing Sailor Jupiter and for all the memories. May you rest in peace.”
Megumi Ogata, the voice of Sailor Uranus, reflected: “Emi Shinohara and I both had the same kanji in our names, and we used to laugh about the mispronunciations. You taught me so much... I just assumed we’d meet again in the Cardcaptor Sakura sequel. I can’t believe it... your gentle smile and voice keep coming back to me.”
Kotono Mitsuishi, who voiced Sailor Moon, simply wrote: “Shinohara-san... Shinohara-san... I can’t believe it.”
Emi Shinohara was born on August 8, in Nagano Prefecture. Her notable roles include Kaho Mizuki in Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card, Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon, Kaori Toyama in BanG Dream!, and Kushina Uzumaki in Naruto Shippuden.

妻の篠原恵美が9/8に亡くなりました。
最近私の周りをアゲハ蝶がやたら舞って来てる。
何かのメッセンジャーなのかと感じる。
思い返せば楽しい26年間でした。
