Wave of Loss in Anime World: Voice Actors TARAKO, Eiko Masuyama, Noriko Ohara, and More Pass Away

Emi Shinohara, a voice actress known for her role as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon, passed away on the 8th at the age of 61. Her agency, 81 Produce, announced her passing on their official website on the 10th. This marks yet another loss in a series of deaths this year of veteran voice actors who supported the golden age of Showa and Heisei era anime.

TARAKO, who voiced Alice in Fushigi no Kuni no Alice and Maruko in Chibi Maruko-chan, passed away on March 4th. Yasuo Muramatsu, the voice of Hans in A Dog of Flanders and the famous Charumera Man for Myojo Ramen commercials, died in April.

Eiko Masuyama, the voice of Fujiko Mine in Lupin III, passed in May. Katsuji Mori, the voice of Pāman 1 in Pāman, and Taiki Matsuno, the voice of Hajime Kindaichi in Kindaichi Case Files, both passed in June. In July, Noriko Ohara, who voiced Nobita Nobi in Doraemon and Doronjo in Yatterman, and Keiko Yamamoto, the voice of Hanazawa in Sazae-san and Yamada-kun in Chibi Maruko-chan, also passed away.

In August, Atsuko Tanaka, the voice of Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell, passed away. The series of deaths of voice actors from beloved national anime continues to grow.
