Voice Actress Eiko Masuyama, Known for Fujiko Mine in "Lupin the Third," Passes Away at 89
Eiko Masuyama, the voice actress known for her role as Fujiko Mine in the anime "Lupin the Third," passed away on May 20. She was 89 years old. The news was announced on the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the "Lupin the Third" anime.
The official X account stated, "Voice actress Eiko Masuyama passed away on May 20. In 'Lupin the Third,' she played various roles starting with guest appearances in PART1 and from PART2 onwards, she took on the role of Fujiko Mine in numerous TV and film projects. We express our gratitude for her many years of contributions and offer our heartfelt condolences. Thank you very much."
Additionally, her agency, Aoni Production, reported, "Eiko Masuyama (age 89) had been undergoing treatment for an illness, but unfortunately, she passed away due to pneumonia on May 20, 2024. We deeply appreciate the kindness and support she received during her lifetime and solemnly inform you of her passing."
The agency further noted, "In accordance with the wishes of her family, the wake and funeral were held privately with only close relatives in attendance. We apologize for the delay in notifying you and kindly ask for your understanding."
Eiko Masuyama was also known for her roles as Mama in "Genius Bakabon" and Honey Kisaragi in "Cutie Honey."
