Måneskin "Giantizes" and Storms Summer Sonic - 'Attack on Titan' Creator Draws a "Fake Trailer"-Style Illustration

To commemorate Italian rock band Måneskin headlining this summer's festival, SUMMER SONIC 2024 (taking place on August 17th and 18th at ZOZO Marine Stadium & Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and at Osaka's Expo ’70 Commemorative Park), a special collaboration with the popular manga Attack on Titan has come to fruition. Måneskin’s vocalist Damiano David, a devoted fan of the series, inspired this unique crossover.

On August 5th, Måneskin’s official social media shared a striking illustration featuring Damiano David (Vo), Victoria De Angelis (Ba), Thomas Raggi (Gt), and Ethan Torchio (Dr) transformed into titans. The image, reminiscent of the "fake preview" style familiar to Attack on Titan fans, teases the band's "invasion" of Summer Sonic.

The illustration was specially drawn by Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama. It depicts the members of Måneskin, each in their distinct titan forms, performing under the moonlight—the band's namesake—against the backdrop of Rome’s iconic Colosseum, blending the worlds of Måneskin and Attack on Titan seamlessly.

In August 2022, during Måneskin’s first performance in Japan at Tokyo’s Toyosu PIT, Damiano impressed the audience by performing an impromptu rendition of Attack on Titan's opening theme "Shinzou wo Sasageyo!" by Linked Horizon. Known for his dedication as a fan, he even has a tattoo of the series' protagonist, Eren Yeager, on his arm.

Isayama shared his excitement: “Congratulations to Måneskin on headlining Summer Sonic! I heard they are fans of Attack on Titan, so I couldn’t resist turning them into titans. Enjoy your performance!”
Damiano expressed his deep appreciation: “I want to thank Mr. Isayama. It’s truly amazing. Every detail is beautiful, and I’m absolutely thrilled with it.” He continued, “To everyone watching, let’s meet at Summer Sonic this summer. I love you all!” Damiano’s comment video is available on YouTube.
Måneskin will headline SUMMER SONIC 2024 on the 17th in Tokyo (Chiba) and the 18th in Osaka.
