【FAIRY TAIL】 Special One-Shot Published After 7 Years: A Story by Hiro Mashima Before the 100-Year Quest

A special one-shot of the manga 'FAIRY TAIL' (Original Creator: Hiro Mashima) was published in the 31st issue of 'Weekly Shonen Magazine' released on the 3rd. While many 'FAIRY TAIL' spin-off works are typically drawn by different manga artists with Mashima handling the storyboards, this special one-shot is drawn by Mashima himself. This marks the first time in seven years that Mashima has personally drawn 'FAIRY TAIL' since the series concluded in 2017.

In this special one-shot drawn by Mashima, the story takes place just before Natsu and his friends embark on the 100-Year Quest, depicting a major commotion involving the guild. It is featured with a color opening and a substantial 30-page main story.

'FAIRY TAIL' was a popular manga serialized in 'Weekly Shonen Magazine' from 2006 to 2017, focusing on the adventures of the wizard guild "Fairy Tail" filled with unique wizards. It had three TV anime adaptations (2009, 2014, and 2018), with the final episode airing in 2019.

Currently, the spin-off work 'FAIRY TAIL 100 YEARS QUEST' has been serialized on the manga app 'Magazine Pocket' since July 2018. This manga, with storyboards by Hiro Mashima and artwork by Atsuo Ueda, continues the adventures of "Fairy Tail" directly from the end of 'FAIRY TAIL' chapter 545. The story follows Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and their friends as they tackle the legendary 100-Year Quest, a request that no one has achieved in the hundred years since the guild's founding. The TV anime adaptation of this story is set to air starting July 7.

Notably, Mashima has not taken a break in the 26 years since his debut, despite currently managing multiple serializations simultaneously.
