World Trigger Goes on Hiatus Again as Daisuke Ashihara Apologizes, Says Bad Weather Has Affected His Health and Work

World Trigger will be on hiatus in the November issue of Jump SQ., which goes on sale in Japan on October 2, due to creator Daisuke Ashihara's health issues. The manga is currently scheduled to resume in the December issue, set for release on November 4.

Ashihara also released a statement apologizing for the hiatus.

“The next chapter of World Trigger will not appear in the upcoming issue due to health issues affecting the author, Daisuke Ashihara. I am very sorry that the series will be on hiatus for two consecutive issues following the previous one. I sincerely apologize to all the readers who have been looking forward to it,” he said.

Daisuke Ashihara Explains How Weather Affects His Condition and Writing Schedule

Addressing the fact that the manga has periodically gone on hiatus due to his health, Ashihara explained that he previously suffered a serious neck condition that resulted in an extended break from serialization.

“I previously injured my neck and took an extended hiatus. After receiving treatment and taking time to recover, my current symptoms have improved considerably compared with how they were at the time. However, I have personally noticed a tendency for the symptoms in my neck to worsen around periods of deteriorating weather,” he said.

Regarding his work schedule, Ashihara explained that he plans ahead with the possibility of weather related issues and sudden problems with his neck in mind.
“I schedule my manuscript work so that I can still meet deadlines even if I am bedridden for four or five days a month due to the weather or sudden neck problems. However, when typhoons or prolonged periods of rain repeatedly hit the Kanto region, the schedule can quickly fall apart. In particular, with increasingly severe weather conditions over the past few years, it has been difficult to maintain a stable routine,” he said.

Ashihara concluded by apologizing for the irregular publication schedule and asking readers for their patience.

“I feel deeply sorry as a serialized manga creator that the series has not been able to appear in the magazine on a stable schedule. At the moment, I am considering and trying various new approaches and measures related to my work, so I would be very grateful if readers could continue to wait patiently. Thank you for your continued support of World Trigger,” he said.

World Trigger is a science fiction action manga that follows Yuma Kuga, a visitor from another world known as a Neighbor, and Osamu Mikumo, a member of the Border Defense Agency, an organization that protects Earth from invasions by Neighbors. The story depicts their growth through encounters and battles with the unknown.

The manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2013 before moving to Jump SQ. in December 2018.

The television anime's first season aired from October 2014 to April 2016. The second season aired from January to April 2021, followed by the third season from October 2021 to January 2022.
