World Trigger New Anime Announced: “Black Trigger Capture Arc” Reboot Project Reveals First Footage and Character Designs

The World Trigger anime has officially announced a brand new anime project, with the “Black Trigger Capture Arc” currently in production as part of its REBOOT project. Alongside the announcement, teaser footage and character design visuals were unveiled for the first time.

REBOOT Project Brings the Story Back to the Beginning

The “REBOOT Project” will re-adapt the series from the very beginning of the original manga, starting with Chapter 1. It will cover major arcs including the Border Enlistment Arc, the Large Scale Neighbor Invasion Arc, and the B Rank Wars Arc, all as newly produced animation.

Toei Animation, which handled the second and third seasons, returns for production. The project will be developed as an upgraded version of the World Trigger first season, featuring enhanced visuals and storytelling.

“Black Trigger Capture Arc” Depicts the Beginning of the Story

The “Black Trigger Capture Arc,” which serves as the opening storyline of the first season, portrays the initial meeting between Osamu Mikumo and Yuma Kuga, as well as Yuma’s journey to joining Border. This arc marks the starting point of the entire narrative.

The newly released footage, first shown at the “World Trigger Festival 2026” event held in Tokyo on April 26, also revealed character designs for main characters including Yuma and Osamu.

Staff and Cast Details Revealed

The teaser video presents documents related to the REBOOT project, with pages turning to gradually reveal new information. Alongside newly revealed character settings, the main staff and cast were also announced.

The series director is Morio Hatano, with Hiroyuki Yoshino handling series composition, and Toshihisa Kaiya in charge of character design.

The main cast includes:

Tomo Muranaka as Yuma Kuga
Yuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
Yuichi Nakamura as Yuichi Jin
Hideyuki Tanaka as Replica

At the end of the teaser, a rough animation sequence features Yuma introducing himself with the line, “Kuga, Yuma.” Broadcast details and release timing will be announced at a later date.

About World Trigger

World Trigger is a science fiction action series that follows Yuma Kuga, a visitor from another world known as a Neighbor, and Osamu Mikumo, a member of the Border defense organization. Together, they face unknown threats and grow through their battles and encounters.

The original manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2013 before moving to Jump SQ. in December 2018. The anime aired its first season from October 2014 to April 2016, followed by the second season from January to April 2021, and the third season from October 2021 to January 2022.
