Full Metal Panic! Family 4 Tops Japan’s Weekly Light Novel Ranking

Full Metal Panic! Family 4 took No. 1 in Japan’s latest weekly light novel ranking with estimated sales of 10,956 copies. Asobi no Kankei 4 followed at No. 2 with 6,528 copies, while the latest Kirby novel held No. 3 with 4,550 copies. Across the Top 10, estimated weekly sales totaled 43,331 copies, up 8.6% from the previous week’s 39,892.

Two Fantasia Bunko titles occupied the top two positions. Full Metal Panic! Family 4 led with 10,956 copies, giving it a 4,428-copy advantage over Asobi no Kankei 4 at No. 2. Both books were released in Japan on August 20, 2026. Asobi no Kankei also entered the week with strong recognition after placing first in the overall, bunko, and new bunko categories of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2026.

The Top 3 sold a combined 22,034 copies, accounting for 50.9% of Top 10 sales. A week earlier, the Top 3 accounted for 62.7%. Even though the current Top 3 total was lower than the previous week’s 25,009 copies, stronger sales across ranks four through ten pushed the overall Top 10 total up by 8.6%.

Among titles that appeared in both weeks’ Top 10, Kirby: Mugen no Haguruma - Kiri ni Tsutsumareta Daijiken!? remained at No. 3 but fell 33.5% to 4,550 copies. Sword Art Online Material 1: Sugary Days dropped five places to No. 6 as weekly sales declined 69.5% to 3,060. Mobile Police Patlabor: Sushi-ya no Goto moved up two places to No. 8, rising 64.9% to 2,841 copies.
