Respecting the Audience's Sensitivity as a Performer Without Highlighting Specific Points

— What do you consider important when portraying a character?

[Sugita] I believe it's important to be subtly present, in a position similar to Himejima, to respect and accept the audience's thoughts and feelings. Without needing to verbalize it, I believe this awareness is already demonstrated through my actions.

— The recording site had high energy. What was the atmosphere like?

[Sugita] I hope it remains an environment where no one feels pressured or has their sensitivity denied. It was indeed a good site without any such atmosphere.

— Is there any memorable event from the recording sessions?

[Sugita] I was glad that conversations between the Hashira were recorded interactively as much as possible. For Himejima's past and the demon-hitting scene, I was particularly struck by being asked to record various patterns. Before recording, I thought that a strong character like Himejima might fight without raising his voice much, but I realized that in that scene, he was desperate and becoming aware of his own strength for the first time. Therefore, I recorded while considering various scenarios, such as shouting with all my might.
