Star Detective Precure! Episode 23 Story & Preview Cuts Released: As Anna Investigates Cure Eclair’s Identity, Kurea Arrives With an Important Hint

The story and preview images for Episode 23 of the new anime Star Detective Precure! (JP: 名探偵プリキュア！), the 23rd installment in the long running Precure series, have been revealed. The episode will air on July 5 at 8:30 AM (JST).

Episode 23 Story

Anna Akechi and Mikuru Kobayashi continue trying to uncover the true identity of Cure Eclair, using a photograph of a blue butterfly as their only clue. Despite their efforts, they are unable to solve the mystery.

While spending time at the Curett Detective Agency with Pochitan and Jett-senpai, they receive a visit from Kurea Howa of Patisserie Chouchou, who has come to deliver a cake. Noticing the case files Anna and Mikuru have been studying, Kurea offers them a hint, saying, “Scents are strongly connected to memories,” before leaving the office.

Meanwhile, based on a prophecy from the Book of Mirage stating that “a record filled with the scent of youth” contains a Makoto Jewel, Usonoir orders Luluka Moria to steal it.

The following day, acting on the prophecy, Luluka visits Patisserie Chouchou while the shop manager is away on a business trip. When Kurea brings out the ice cream Luluka ordered, Luluka hands her a phantom thief’s calling card.

Introduction

Star Detective Precure introduces the first detective themed Precure storyline in the franchise and is set primarily in 1999. The protagonist Anna Akechi is a 14 year old second year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is guided by a mysterious pendant found in her room, triggering a time slip from the year 2027 back to Makoto Mirai City in 1999.

There, Anna meets another 14 year old girl, Mikuru Kobayashi, who dreams of becoming a great detective. When a series of incidents begin to occur, the two girls find themselves unable to ignore people suffering from stolen treasured possessions. Together, they transform into the Star Detective Precure, solving mysteries with the catchphrase “That mystery will be cured” while protecting smiles through sharp deduction and searching for clues that may allow Anna to return to her original time.
