Star Detective Precure! Episode 20 Story & Preview Cuts Released: A Plea for Help Arrives at the Detective Agency

The story and preview images for Episode 20 of the new anime Star Detective Precure! (JP: 名探偵プリキュア！), the 23rd installment in the long running Precure series, have been revealed. The episode will air on June 14 at 8:30 AM (JST).

Episode 20 Story

A letter arrives at the Curett Detective Agency pleading for help, warning that “the island may disappear if things continue this way.” In response, Anna Akechi and Mikuru Kobayashi board a boat and travel to an island called Jiei Island.

Upon arrival, they are welcomed by the island’s village chief, who sent the letter. The island has a traditional song connected to fairies, and according to local legend, the appearance of a fairy signals the disappearance of the island itself.

Three days earlier, logs used for chopping firewood were scattered across the island. Then, on the very morning of Anna and Mikuru’s arrival, someone drew graffiti on the village chief’s face while he slept. Both incidents appeared to mirror the contents of the old song, which continues with the lyrics:
“When the manju disappear, the hands of the clock begin to move. At last, the island disappears as well.”

Determined to uncover the secret behind the mysterious song, Anna and Mikuru seek out a turtle said to be more than 100 years old. Using Pre-Kit Gummies, they speak with the turtle and ask about the island’s past.

According to the turtle, nothing on the island has really changed over the years. The only significant difference is that the island’s name was changed from Manju Island to Jiei Island.

Then, another incident occurs. At the village chief’s house, a batch of manju buns that he had secretly hidden as a snack for his granddaughters suddenly goes missing.

Introduction

Star Detective Precure introduces the first detective themed Precure storyline in the franchise and is set primarily in 1999. The protagonist Anna Akechi is a 14 year old second year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is guided by a mysterious pendant found in her room, triggering a time slip from the year 2027 back to Makoto Mirai City in 1999.

There, Anna meets another 14 year old girl, Mikuru Kobayashi, who dreams of becoming a great detective. When a series of incidents begin to occur, the two girls find themselves unable to ignore people suffering from stolen treasured possessions. Together, they transform into the Star Detective Precure, solving mysteries with the catchphrase “That mystery will be cured” while protecting smiles through sharp deduction and searching for clues that may allow Anna to return to her original time.
