Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Returns in July with First New Anime in 8 Years, Main Visual Reveals Massive Character Lineup

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha returns this July with its first completely new TV anime in eight years as the main visual for Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance has officially been revealed.

Main Visual Brings Together the Series’ Expanding Cast

The newly released main visual features the many characters who have been gradually introduced in previous announcements. The artwork prominently depicts the two opposing factions, “EXCEEDS” and the “Majingari” members, each gazing in different directions.

The visual hints at hidden motives and uncertain destinations for the characters, while the true meaning behind their actions remains shrouded in mystery. Expectations are rising for how these conflicts and relationships will unfold in the anime itself.

The anime will premiere on July 4 at 1:00 AM on TOKYO MX and BS11, with the first broadcast airing as a special 60 minute episode.

Advance Screening Event Announced

Ahead of the television broadcast, an advance screening event for Episodes 1 and 2 will be held on June 21 at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo.

In addition to the screenings, a special talk show featuring Azusa Tachibana, Asaki Yuikawa, Shiharu, Aika Kobayashi, Ayasa Ito, and Hina Aoki will also take place during the event.

Reflection and Detonation Films Returning to Theaters

To celebrate the launch of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance, revival screenings of the two theatrical Nanoha films have also been announced.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection will screen from June 12 through June 18, while Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation will screen from June 19 through June 25 as part of a special two week theatrical event.

About the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Franchise

The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series first began airing as a television anime in 2004 and has since become one of Japan’s most popular magical girl franchises.

The story follows Nanoha Takamachi, an ordinary third grade elementary school student whose fate changes dramatically after obtaining magical powers. Since then, the franchise has expanded into manga, games, films, and numerous other media projects.

A large scale anniversary project commemorating the 20th anniversary of the anime’s debut was previously launched.

Story Introduction for EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance

This new anime marks the franchise’s first fully original installment since the 2018 film Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation.

The story begins in the far eastern island nation of Mizuho. Shiina Kuze, a young hunter tasked with exterminating invasive species, lives quietly on a remote island with her younger sister Setsuna, her only remaining family member. However, an unexpected incident soon disrupts their peaceful life.
