Super Mario Galaxy Movie Becomes Global Hit, Earns $372 Million Worldwide in Just 5 Days

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has become a global box office sensation, earning $372,487,455 worldwide within just five days of release. The film, based on the iconic Super Mario franchise, debuted across North America and multiple international markets starting April 1.

In North America, the film opened in 4,252 theaters and grossed $190,053,455 over five days, securing the No.1 spot at the weekend box office. It also marked the biggest opening of 2026, with a record-breaking first day on Wednesday, April 1, earning $34,502,265, the highest ever for that day of the week. The five-day total reached approximately 93 percent of the previous film’s performance, signaling an exceptionally strong start.

Internationally, the film was released across 80 markets on over 54,000 screens, generating $182,434,000 outside North America. This surpassed the previous film’s international opening of $170,949,000 and achieved No.1 openings in 54 markets.

Combined, the worldwide total reached $372,487,455, nearly matching 99 percent of the previous installment’s opening performance, demonstrating remarkable global momentum. The film is scheduled for release in Japan on April 24.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the second animated feature based on the Super Mario universe, following The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023 and grossed over $1.3 billion globally.

The film is produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. It is a joint production between Universal Pictures and Nintendo, with global distribution handled by Universal Pictures.
