The upcoming anime film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, based on Nintendo’s beloved Super Mario franchise, is set to hit Japanese theaters on April 24, 2026. The latest trailer showcases a cosmic adventure where Mario and friends set off across the galaxy.

In the newly released footage, a shrunken Bowser is seen trimming a bonsai tree in the opening sequence, while Mario and Luigi exchange cold glances at his antics. The trailer also introduces new characters, including Bowser Jr. and Princess Rosalina, expanding the universe of the Super Mario series.

Returning cast members will reprise their roles, with Brie Larson voicing Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. The Japanese voice cast will be announced at a later date.

The previous Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in April 2023, was a massive box-office success, grossing over 14 billion yen in Japan. The story followed Mario and Luigi , two plumber brothers from New York, who are transported through a mysterious pipe into a magical world, where they must use the power of their bond to save the realm from danger.

The new installment is a joint production between Illumination and Nintendo, with a global rollout set for April 2026: April 3 in the U.S. and most regions, April 24 in Japan, and other territories throughout the month.
