Kamen Rider Launches Anime Project for 55th Anniversary with Fully Original First Series

Kamen Rider anime project has officially been announced as part of the franchise’s 55th anniversary, marking a major new step in its global expansion.

Three New Kamen Rider Labels Announced for the 55th Anniversary

The iconic Kamen Rider series, which first aired on April 3, 1971, celebrated its 55th anniversary today with a commemorative event held in Tokyo. During the event, three new labels for the franchise were officially unveiled.

The first label, “THE KAMENRIDER CHRONICLE,” will focus on stories featuring past Kamen Riders. Designed not only for longtime fans but also for newcomers, the concept allows viewers to enjoy each work independently without prior knowledge of the TV series, while encouraging interest in the broader franchise.

The second label, “THE KAMENRIDER PREMIUM,” will produce special, high-quality Kamen Rider films. A new theatrical project is currently in development, with a planned release within fiscal year 2028.

Kamen Rider Enters Animation with Global Ambitions

The third label, “THE KAMENRIDER ANIMATED,” will handle anime productions within the Kamen Rider franchise. The project aims to create works that utilize expressive techniques unique to animation, positioning anime as a key strategy for expanding Kamen Rider’s global fanbase.

Both original Kamen Riders and legacy Riders are expected to be featured in future productions under this label. The first project, however, will be a completely original anime work. Only an initial image board has been revealed so far, with the production aiming for a visual style inspired by Japanese manga aesthetics.
