Manga Artist Takes Parental Leave, “The Isekai Doctor” to Go on Hiatus for About Six Months

It was announced on the 2nd that the manga The Isekai Doctor (JP: 高度に発達した医学は魔法と区別がつかない, Kodo ni Hattatsu Shita Igaku wa Maho to Kubetsu ga Tsukunai) Is Indistinguishable from Magic, currently serialized in Morning Two by Kodansha, will be going on hiatus. The reason is that manga artist Nobuhide Takishita will be taking parental leave. The series is scheduled to resume in September.

The editorial department of Morning addressed readers, stating that the series will be on break starting from the next issue due to Takishita taking childcare leave. They added that the manga will return in September and promised an even more enhanced version of the series upon its comeback. They also expressed appreciation for continued support.

Author Nobuhide Takishita Shares Personal Message

IIn a handwritten message, Takishita wrote, “I’ll be taking parental leave,” and shared the news that he has welcomed a child. He apologized for the sudden announcement and expressed his appreciation to readers who have continued to support the series.

He also opened up about his feelings regarding the hiatus. Describing the series as one that often leaves readers genuinely wanting to see what happens next, he admitted that he feels sorry to make them wait. He added that he himself has been enjoying thinking about future developments and looks forward to continuing the story, which makes the wait feel all the more restless.

At the same time, he reflected with humor and sincerity, saying that it might not feel right if a character like Amami were written by someone who could casually say, “I don’t care about parenting.” He asked readers for their understanding, hoping they would kindly wait for the series to resume, as if offering their support to someone in need.

Teasing Future Developments and Expressing Gratitude

Takishita teased that Episode 49 will include major highlights, encouraging fans to look forward to it. He also took the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the production for allowing him to take parental leave.

On social media platform X, he further expressed gratitude to readers, staff, and editors for their support and understanding. He also thanked Hoko Tsuda, who is responsible for the original story and medical supervision.
