The publisher Mag Garden elaborated on the background behind the decision. Since its establishment 25 years ago, the company has continued publishing comic magazines while changing titles and lineups over time. However, amid structural changes in the comic publishing industry, which once centered on print magazines, as well as shifts in the environment surrounding magazine printing and distribution, the company decided to halt the publication of its print magazine.

The statement also included an apology to readers. “Needless to say, it is thanks to our readers that we were able to continue publishing the magazine until now. We sincerely apologize for the sudden announcement and would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us.”

Mag Garden added that works serialized in the magazine have already been available on its digital comic distribution platforms, Mag Comi and MAGKAN, and readers will still be able to follow these series there. The company also said that, following the magazine’s closure, both platforms will further expand their lineups and enhance their functions.

The statement concluded by asking readers to continue supporting the works published by Mag Garden.
Launched in 2014, Monthly Comic Garden has serialized many popular titles over the years. Current works include Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter, which was recently announced to receive an anime adaptation, as well as Dahlia in Bloom, The Kingdoms of Ruin, Night of the Living Cat, and Mamotte Shugogetten! Among its lineup, numerous series have gone on to receive anime adaptations.
