The Prince of Tennis Sequel Nears Its Finale: The New Prince of Tennis Has Six Chapters Remaining, Creator Takeshi Konomi Urges Fans to Watch Ryoma Final Match
The New Prince of Tennis is officially heading toward its conclusion, with only six installments remaining until the final chapter, according to creator Takeshi Konomi.

On February 28, Takeshi Konomi, the original creator of The Prince of Tennis, updated his official X account to share that the currently serialized sequel, The New Prince of Tennis, has just six chapters left before it reaches its finale. However, he did not specify an exact end date, noting that each installment sometimes includes two to three chapters at once.
The Prince of Tennis Legacy Approaches Its Climax
The Prince of Tennis follows middle school protagonist Ryoma Echizen as he grows alongside his teammates through intense tennis matches and personal challenges. The original series was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2008.
Since 2009, its second series, The New Prince of Tennis, has been running in Jump Square. The story shifts its stage to an international tournament, where Ryoma and his teammates face off against representative players from countries around the world in heated matches.
Although Konomi had previously indicated that the series was approaching its end, he offered a clearer update in his latest post. He wrote, “The New Prince of Tennis is finally celebrating its 17th anniversary, and this summer marks the 27th anniversary of the Tennis no Ojisama series. With only six chapters remaining until the final episode.”
He continued, “With gratitude to all our readers and everyone involved, I will take on this challenge without forgetting my original passion. Please be sure to enjoy Ryoma last match in real time.”
As the long running tennis saga nears its conclusion, fans are preparing to witness the final chapter of Ryoma journey on the court.
