Originally published on the novel submission site Shosetsuka ni Naro, the work has accumulated more than 75 million page views. The print editions have surpassed 1.8 million copies in total circulation.

The story follows a legendary warrior once known as a “god-slaying hero” who is reincarnated as Nia Liston, a sickly aristocratic young lady. Despite her delicate and elegant appearance, Nia retains her former life’s love for battle, creating a striking contrast that defines the series. Of course, the story itself is fascinating. What I find especially irresistible is the contrast between how graceful and adorable Nia looks and how incredibly strong she truly is. She may not be a protagonist that everyone immediately relates to, but depending on the situation, whether she is in battle, spending time at the academy, or with her maid Rinokis, she shows many different sides. Sometimes she is selfish, and at other times she is surprisingly rational. The world surrounding Nia, with all these different expressions of her personality, is incredibly compelling.

When playing Nia, I often find myself overwhelmed by words and actions that I would never encounter in everyday life, and I realize just how challenging the role is.
