Dragon Ball Super: Beerus to Premiere in Fall 2026, Rebuilding the “Super” Saga With an Enhanced Edition Using Cutting Edge Visual and Audio Presentation
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a newly restructured anime based on the television series Dragon Ball Super, was officially announced to begin airing on Fuji TV in fall 2026. The announcement was made on January 25 at the large scale event Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

Dragon Ball Super Relaunches as an Enhanced Edition
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus reworks the original Dragon Ball Super television series, which aired from 2015 to 2018. The project features extensive newly created footage, redrawn scenes, and a full reconstruction of the storyline, positioning the series as an enhanced edition. Visuals, sound design, and overall composition have been renewed using the latest animation techniques, delivering heightened battle immersion and a more precise adaptation of the original work.

The story is set several years after the fierce battle against Majin Buu, during a brief period of peace on Earth. At the same time, Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long slumber. Even the Kais and Supreme Kais observe his awakening with fear due to his overwhelming power to destroy entire planets. Upon hearing rumors of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, Beerus suddenly appears before Goku. As Earth faces the threat of annihilation, an unprecedented, universe shaking battle between the God of Destruction and Goku and his allies begins.

During the stage event, Masako Nozawa, the voice of Son Goku, was joined by a surprise appearance from Koichi Yamadera, who voices Beerus. Yamadera expressed his joy, saying that having a series titled with Beerus’s name feels like a great reward as a performer. Nozawa reacted with surprise, saying she had just learned of the decision and encouraging fans to watch the series.

Dragon Ball, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump beginning in 1984 and running for more than ten and a half years, is one of Japan’s most iconic manga series. With total global circulation exceeding 260 million copies, the franchise has continued to captivate audiences through television anime, films, and games even after the manga concluded.

The theatrical film series was revived in 2013 after a 17 year hiatus and achieved consecutive major hits. In 2015, Dragon Ball Super, based on original concepts by Akira Toriyama, began airing. The film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released in 2022, followed by the television anime Dragon Ball DAIMA, which aired from October 2024 to February 2025. Production has also been confirmed for the new anime Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol.
