About Kill Blue and Its Story

The anime is based on the manga Kill Blue, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump published by Shueisha. The series is the latest work by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, best known for Kuroko’s Basketball. The story follows Juzo Ogami, a legendary assassin who has completed countless impossible missions. One day, the 39 year old Juzo is stung by a mysterious bee and reverts to the appearance of his 13 year old self. Forced to attend middle school, he finds himself taking on new missions, incidents, and battles against other assassins in what can be described as a second chance youth action comedy.

The adult version of Juzo Ogami is voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi. The series is directed by Hiro Kaburagi, known for works such as the Kimi ni Todoke anime series and GREAT PRETENDER. Animation production is handled by Studio CUE, led by producer Rui Kuroki, who previously worked on Kuroko’s Basketball.

Main PV Highlights and Characters

The main PV opens with Juzo Ogami, now disguised as a middle school student, introducing himself to his classmates with an unsettling line: “I don’t really have hobbies. Special skills… maybe sniping?” His unusual self introduction instantly freezes the classroom. Supported by his clumsy yet reliable partner Kotatsu Nekota and his scientist ex wife Eri Wanibuchi, Juzo begins a new school life under the mission to infiltrate a middle school.

Despite being a seasoned 39 year old, Juzo initially mutters that studying is pointless at his age, only to soon light up with genuine excitement as he realizes how enjoyable learning can be. The PV also introduces a colorful cast of characters, including Chisato Shiraishi, the head of the home economics club, Tenma Tendo, known as a super middle schooler for his exceptional physical abilities, and Noren Mitsuoka, the refined daughter of a major corporation. Together, they form the backdrop for a fast paced story packed with drama and action, hinting at a school life even more dangerous than the underworld.

Cast Comments

Yuko Sanpei, who voices the 13 year old Juzo Ogami, shared her excitement at fulfilling her long held dream of playing an older man, expressing her enthusiasm for forming an “uncle duo” with Shunsuke Takeuchi.

Fuka Izumi, the voice of Noren Mitsuoka, described her character as tough, positive, and remarkably self assured for a middle schooler, and said she looks forward to portraying Noren’s growing range of expressions.

Shuichiro Umeda, who plays Kotatsu Nekota, called Kotatsu a dependable partner, a motherly presence, and a representative of Generation Z, adding humorously that he wants to eat Kotatsu’s omelet rice.

Takeo Otsuka, cast as Tenma Tendo, joked about playing a triple threat role after being inspired by Shohei Ohtani’s two way performances, while expressing anticipation for Tenma’s interactions with other characters.

Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Chisato Shiraishi, described her character as an “ane go” type who watches over Juzo and the others like a caring mother.
