ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda has hinted at a brand new anime film currently in development, revealing that the project is underway and will be something many fans are likely to find highly intriguing. The comments were shared during a stage event held on the 21st at Jump Festa in Makuhari Messe, Chiba.

Eiichiro Oda Comments on the New Anime Film

During the event, a handwritten letter from Eiichiro Oda was read aloud, offering updates on various ONE PIECE related projects, including the live action drama series and the original manga. In the letter, Oda also addressed the long rumored new anime film, which has not yet had any official information released.

Oda candidly admitted, “I have not been told that I am allowed to say this, but to be honest, I cannot say the anime film is progressing smoothly.” He then added humorously, “But now that I have said it, maybe someone will say, ‘You said it, so hurry up.’ It is something that I think many of you will definitely be interested in, so please wait very patiently.”

Multiple ONE PIECE Announcements Revealed at Jump Festa

At the same Jump Festa event, it was officially announced that the TV anime ONE PIECE Elbaph Arc will begin airing on April 5, 2026, on Fuji TV and affiliated networks. Additional announcements included the debut of the mini anime series CHOPPER’s, which will air weekly starting January 5 on Fuji TV’s morning program Mezamashi TV every Monday at 7:36 a.m.

It was also confirmed that for the Japanese dubbed version of the Netflix live action series ONE PIECE Season 2 INTO THE GRANDLINE, the character Tony Tony Chopper will once again be voiced by Ikue Otani, the same actress from the anime series.
