About Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the hit manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Set in the Taisho period, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by demons. Determined to return his demon-transformed sister Nezuko to human form, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps to confront the demons responsible. The manga has sold over 220 million copies worldwide.
The TV anime Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc aired from April to September 2019 and caused a nationwide sensation, followed by the theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train in October 2020, which earned approximately 51.7 billion yen (about 330 million dollars) worldwide.
The franchise expanded further with video game and stage adaptations. Subsequently, the anime Entertainment District Arc aired in December 2021, Swordsmith Village Arc in April 2023 and Hashira Training Arc from May to June 2024. The theatrical trilogy Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is now underway, with Chapter One depicting Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps entering the demon stronghold Infinity Castle for their final battles against Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons.
