Based on the manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, this high school romantic comedy centers on the beautiful yet “scary-looking” teacher Hiyori Hiwarimura. Though students fear her as the “Kowa Kowa (Scary-Scary) Sensei” who might curse them if angered, she is actually weak in every possible way – low stamina, a frail voice, and no physical strength – earning her the nickname “Yowa Yowa Sensei.” When her secret is accidentally discovered by her student Akihito Abikura, he decides to help his clumsy teacher clear up the misunderstandings. Together they navigate a series of heart-throbbing and mischievous moments in this charming, slightly daring romantic comedy.

Cast Comments

Marika Kono (as Hiyori Hiwarimura)
“I’m overjoyed to be returning as Yowayowa Sensei – it feels like a miracle! I’ll give it my all so fans can continue to love this wonderful series through the TV anime.”

Marika Kono

Marika Kono

■On her own ‘Yowayowa’ side
My mouth is so weak that I can’t even drink water properly – I end up swallowing air or spilling it from the corner of my lips. I hope it’s a relatable kind of ‘Yowayowa!’”

■On her ‘Tsuyotsuyo’ side
“I look strong when I wear sunglasses – visually intimidating, in a good way! I’d say that’s my ‘Kowakowa Tsuyotsuyo’ side.”

Akihito Abikura

Kakeru Hatano (as Akihito Abikura)
“My first impression of the manga was – ‘How enviable!’ My teachers were all strong and confident, so I can relate to Abikura-kun’s quiet and modest nature. I hope many people will watch and laugh along with us.”

■On his own ‘Yowayowa’ side
“I’m terrified of spiders. No one told me city spiders could jump – I’m constantly struggling with them.”

■On his ‘Tsuyotsuyo’ side
“My hair! Every time I go to the salon, they compliment me – ‘Your hair is so thick and strong!’ That’s definitely my ‘Tsuyotsuyo’ point.”
