The fourth volume of the manga Kaijin Fugeki was officially released on May 16. Fans who purchase the new volume from participating bookstores will receive an exclusive illustration card. The card features a newly drawn piece by the manga’s illustrator and original creator, Oh!great, commemorating his 30th anniversary in the manga industry, complete with a printed autograph.

Additionally, publisher Kodansha announced that the manga has exceeded 200,000 copies in circulation across Volumes 1 through 3.

Highlights from Volume 4: Suspicion, Flames, and a New Threat

In Volume 4, Gao’s inner weakness is exposed in front of his homeroom teacher, Hirano. Nicknamed “Ember,” Gao is a reckless and seemingly immortal troublemaker who loves playing with fire. When a British soldier is found burned to death inside a bus protected by a local barrier, Gao suspects terrorism. To eliminate the risk of a large-scale containment spell being triggered, he decides to incinerate all buses at the depot.

This leads to suspicion falling on both Hirano and Gao’s friend Koji. Just as the two are being surrounded and interrogated, a sudden ambush from a horde of embers—creatures who slipped past defenses—throws everything into chaos.

Volumes 1 and 2 of Kaijin Fugeki went into immediate reprints upon release, with strong backing from manga experts and bookstore staff nationwide. A public relations representative from Kodansha noted, “This series trended on X (formerly Twitter) just hours after its first chapter was published.
