Set in the year 1600, the story unfolds a decade after Oda Nobunaga achieved his long-sought goal of unifying Japan. However, upon sensing his imminent death, Nobunaga makes a shocking declaration: he will entrust the country to the one who produces the strongest martial artist. This proclamation sends ripples across the land, as once-defeated warlords rise again—not to claim power through armies, but through warriors. Each faction now puts forward its most powerful martial artist to compete for control of the nation in a grand tournament of strength and skill.

Described as a historical fantasy set in an alternate feudal Japan, the series explores the question: "Who is the mightiest warrior of Hinomoto?" Through a mix of fictional and historical figures, the manga crafts intense, style-clashing combat scenes that have captivated fans since its debut.

The announcement was made via the series' official X (formerly Twitter) account:
“Tenkaichi is becoming an anime!! Look forward to seeing the characters in dynamic motion and battles full of energy!!! More details, including the broadcast schedule, will be revealed soon!”
