The TV anime adaptation of Kore Kaite Shine—the manga that took home the 2023 Manga Taisho Grand Prize—has been officially announced. The series will air on Nippon TV, and a teaser visual has been revealed to accompany the news.

Kore Kaite Shine follows the story of a high school girl captivated by manga who starts a manga club with her friends, striving to discover her own creative voice. Despite the striking and intense title, which translates to "Draw This Then Die," the story is anything but grim. Instead, it offers a bright, positive, and heartwarming coming-of-age story that celebrates creativity and self-expression, aimed at all who wish to create something meaningful.

The manga is currently serialized in Shogakukan’s Gessan magazine and has surpassed 430,000 copies in total circulation. In addition to the 2023 Manga Taisho Grand Prize, it also received the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award, further cementing its reputation as a must-read title.

The teaser visual released for the anime shows “Izu Oshima,” the fictionalized version of the real-life Izu Ōshima island where the author Minoru Toyoda was born and raised. The image depicts the back view of the protagonist, Ai Yasumi, living her high school days surrounded by the island’s blue skies and sea. Beside her is the character Pokota, symbolizing the beginning of her journey into the world of manga creation.
