The 30th anniversary project for the anime Mobile Suit Gundam W has officially begun. To mark the occasion, a new anniversary visual featuring Heero Yuy and Relena Darlian dressed in elegant formalwear has been released.

Originally broadcast on April 7, 1995, Mobile Suit Gundam W is the second entry in the Gundam "Alternative Universe" series, offering a world separate from the Universal Century timeline. The series is also notable as the first Gundam title to be aired in North America, gaining a passionate fanbase both in Japan and overseas.

As part of the 30th anniversary celebration, a dedicated website titled Mobile Suit Gundam W 30th Anniversary Special Site has launched, consolidating all news, merchandise, and content related to the series. The official X (formerly Twitter) account has also been updated with a commemorative anniversary design.

The project promises a variety of fan-centered content and campaigns to be rolled out over the course of the next year.

30th Anniversary Official Book Announced

Titled Mobile Suit Gundam W & Endless Waltz 30th Anniversary Official Book - Operation 30th, this special volume is scheduled for release on Friday, December 12, 2025. The book will be a comprehensive three-volume set packed with rare production materials including:

Storyboards from Episode 1 of the TV series and the special edition of Endless Waltz

Original key animation and corrections for the opening and ending sequences by character designer Hisashi Hirai

A wide range of line art and setting materials

It will also feature two in-depth roundtable discussions with the voice cast:

Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero Yuy), Akiko Yajima (Relena Darlian), Takehito Koyasu (Zechs Merquise), and Ryotaro Okiayu (Treize Khushrenada)

Toshihiko Seki (Duo Maxwell), Shigeru Nakahara (Trowa Barton), Ai Orikasa (Quatre Raberba Winner), and Ryuuzou Ishino (Chang Wufei)

This collector’s item will be an essential keepsake for fans celebrating the franchise’s legacy.
