"Black Clover" Creator Draws Joan of Arc, Stirring Buzz: "Too Good!", "Great Atmosphere" - Jump Artists Depict Historical Figures
The manga series "Educational Manga: World History" (Shueisha, released on October 4), which has been enjoyed by readers for its fun and educational portrayal of history, is undergoing a full renewal for the first time in 22 years, across all 18 volumes. The cover illustrations for all volumes have been drawn by 16 popular manga artists including Hirohiko Araki of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", Yasuhisa Hara of "Kingdom", and Kohei Horikoshi of "My Hero Academia".
Yuki Tabata, the creator of "Black Clover," has depicted figures such as Charlemagne and Joan of Arc, eliciting online comments like "Such an atmosphere!", "The art is too good!", and "Definitely buying this!"
The original "Educational Manga: World History" series, first released in 2002, has been a beloved long-seller. The newest edition updates the format from a large hardcover to a more portable softcover, and completely refreshes the content. The content dramatizes global historical events in an engaging comic format, with each volume now expanded by 56 pages over the previous versions. The series captures the imagination with beautiful illustrations, captivating characters, and enthralling stories that make readers feel as if they are part of the epochs they are reading about. The latest high school history textbooks emphasize a "Global History" approach to understanding world history in a cross-disciplinary manner, and an "Inquiry" approach where students think about questions and search for reasons and solutions on their own. The revised series aims to meet these new educational standards by covering Western, Asian, Middle Eastern, and African histories, and also includes connections between countries through people, goods, and cultures. This is the first world history manga series to align with the new educational guidelines.
The series notably devotes ten out of eighteen volumes to modern and contemporary history, covering topics like the Russian invasion of Ukraine and military conflicts in Palestine, among other current global issues.
