"Kagurabachi" Captures Global Attention - Shueisha Releases Excerpts from Volume 2
Shueisha announced that as of the release of the second volume on the 2nd, the cumulative publication figures for the manga "Kagurabachi" by Takeru Hokazono have surpassed 200,000 copies, including digital editions.
Following a laudatory comment from Kohei Horikoshi of "My Hero Academia" for the first volume, the second volume has received an endorsement from multi-artist Vaundy. Various promotional activities are also being implemented to celebrate the release of the second volume, including the distribution of foil-stamped illustration cards, a giveaway of original T-shirts, and the sale of full-color art boards & LINE stamps. According to Shueisha, the series has been a hit on the global, multilingual comic magazine app and web service "MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA," with the first chapter becoming the world's most viewed in its first week of serialization (September 2023, English version), and reaching over 99 million page views by April 2024. The series, described as currently the most dynamic in "Weekly Shonen Jump," enjoys immense popularity not only in Japan but also internationally. The 99 million PVs represent the total for the series, not just the first episode. "Kagurabachi" centers on Chihiro, a young boy aspiring to become a swordsmith under the tutelage of his father. While their days filled with laughter were expected to last forever, a tragedy strikes one day... As bonds are bathed in blood and normal days never return, the boy kindles a flame of determination and hatred in his heart. This unique sword-fighting action series, which marks Takeru Hokazono's first serialized work, started in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in September 2023.
