King Gnu Joins Forces with ‘Detective Conan’ Movie for the First Time! Theme Song Revealed in New Trailer

The highly anticipated Detective Conan movie, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback (set for release on April 18, 2025), has unveiled a new trailer along with the announcement of its theme song. The film marks the first collaboration between Detective Conan and King Gnu, who will provide the theme song "TWILIGHT!!!".

King Gnu’s frontman, Daiki Tsuneta, expressed his excitement about the project:
"I had the honor of composing ‘TWILIGHT!!!’ as the theme song for Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback. It was a great privilege to be chosen. The production team gave me complete creative freedom, allowing me to explore a new musical approach unlike anything King Gnu has done before. I hope fans enjoy both the song and the movie. I’m looking forward to its release!"

The new trailer, featuring "TWILIGHT!!!", offers a glimpse into the past of Kansuke Yamato, an inspector from the Nagano Prefectural Police, who has always been known for his distinct one-eyed appearance. For the first time ever, the film reveals his backstory before he lost his eye. The trailer opens with a tense scene of Kansuke chasing a suspect through a snowy mountain, only to be caught in an avalanche while clutching his injured left eye. What did he witness in that moment?

A High-Stakes Conspiracy Unfolds

As the trailer progresses, it intensifies with gripping moments, including a line from Kansuke—"The culprit is in my memory." The plot thickens as gunfire erupts, seemingly preventing him from recalling his lost memories. Meanwhile, Conan questions, "What exactly is happening in Japan right now?", to which Amuro (Furuya) coldly responds, "You don’t need to know that much." These hints suggest a far-reaching conspiracy hidden beneath a national-scale avalanche disaster.

The latter half of the trailer, backed by "TWILIGHT!!!", teases thrilling action sequences: Ran delivers a flying kick to a hooded figure, Takami sinks underwater, and a series of dramatic developments unfold at a cinematic scale. One particularly striking scene shows Kansuke’s signature cane buried in the snow, followed by Yui collapsing in tears as she desperately calls out his name. The trailer ends with the sound of a door slamming shut, leaving viewers eager to discover what happens next.

The film’s producers, Shuho Kondo, Takeshi Yoshida, and Yuhei Okada, explained their decision to approach King Gnu for the theme song:

"The moment we finished reading the finalized script, we knew we wanted King Gnu to perform the theme song. The film blends an emotional human drama with an intense mystery, featuring the Nagano Prefectural Police and Kogoro Mouri. The melancholic yet powerful storytelling, the haunting beauty of the snowy mountain setting—everything about this film aligned perfectly with King Gnu’s unique musical style. When we first listened to ‘TWILIGHT!!!,’ we were overwhelmed with emotion. We knew we had made the right choice. This is a song you’ll want to listen to over and over again, so we hope fans will enjoy it in theaters as much as we do."

With Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback set to deliver a powerful blend of suspense, action, and emotional depth, the collaboration with King Gnu adds another layer of anticipation for fans worldwide.
