Conan x Edogawa Ranpo Collaboration Announced for November – Detective Boys to Take on Ranpo Residence Murder Case
The popular TV anime Detective Conan (airs every Saturday at 6:00 PM) will collaborate with renowned mystery writer Edogawa Ranpo. To commemorate the 130th anniversary of Edogawa Ranpo's birth, a two-part special titled Ranpo Residence Murder Case will air on November 16 and 23, with the historic Edogawa Ranpo residence as the story's setting.
The script will be handled by Takahiro Okura, who also wrote the screenplay for the blockbuster film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween. Okura, known for his work on several other Conan movies, including The Crimson Love Letter, The Fist of Blue Sapphire, and The Bride of Halloween, raises expectations for how Conan and the Detective Boys will tackle this new mystery set at the Ranpo residence.
To mark this special collaboration, a unique visual featuring Conan modeled after Edogawa Ranpo's portrait has been released. The artwork depicts Conan striking the same pose as Ranpo with a mischievous smile, evoking the sense of a timeless collaboration.
This special visual will also be displayed at the Kyomafu (Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair), held on the 21st and 22nd of this month at the YTV Animation booth. The modern-day Detective Boys will challenge a complex case related to "Edogawa Ranpo," the namesake of "Edogawa Conan."
Synopsis
Conan and the Detective Boys visit the Ranpo residence, led by their teacher Ms. Kobayashi. In the storehouse, once used as a library by Edogawa Ranpo, they find a treasure trove of valuable books, thrilling Conan and his friends. Soon after, Detectives Sato and Takagi arrive to inform them of a murder that has occurred at a nearby park. Even more shockingly, evidence from the victim is linked to the storehouse, which is usually off-limits to the public. The modern-day Detective Boys must solve this challenging case!
