A New Director and a Storyline Full of Fierce Battles
Since its first production in 2020, the Demon Slayer stage play series has captivated audiences, and this marks its fifth entry.
With this installment, Kenichi Suemitsu, who previously handled script and direction, hands over the reins to Motoyoshi Nobuyasu, who will both write and direct the new play. Toshiyuki Wada will continue to compose the music, bringing a fresh take to the stage adaptation.

The Ever-Expanding World of "Demon Slayer"
Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, Demon Slayer has surpassed 150 million copies in circulation.
The series is set in the Taisho era, where demons roam the land. It follows Tanjiro Kamado, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a cure for his sister Nezuko, who was turned into a demon after their family was slaughtered.
The franchise has seen multiple anime adaptations and films:
2019: "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" (TV anime)
2020: "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train" (Theatrical film)
2021: "Entertainment District Arc" (TV anime)
2023: "Swordsmith Village Arc" (TV anime)
2024: "Hashira Training Arc" (TV anime, May–June)
2025: "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc" (Theatrical film, three-part release, first chapter on July 18, 2025)
Cast Comments on the New Stage Adaptation
Shogo Sakamoto (Tanjiro Kamado)
"This is the fifth entry in the series, and I am ready to give it my all. I was really excited about ‘Entertainment District Arc,’ and I think what makes ‘Demon Slayer’ so special on stage is how the fights are brought to life. The upcoming battles with powerful demons are something I can’t wait to portray. We’ll have airborne combat, extending swords, and various stage effects—please look forward to it!"
Karen Takahashi (Nezuko Kamado)
"I’m so happy that we get to bring ‘Swordsmith Village Arc’ to the stage. In the previous play, I worked with Shogo Sakamoto for the first time, and I found him to be such a cheerful and supportive person. Of course, the battle scenes are exciting, but the human emotions—strength, fragility, and fleeting moments—will be even more palpable in a live performance."
Yoshihide Sasaki (Muzan Kibutsuji)
"In 2.5D musicals, vocal ability is often equated with a character’s combat strength. I feel a lot of pressure since we have incredibly talented musical performers this time. ‘Entertainment District Arc’ ended at the Infinity Castle scene, and I’ve been eager to continue the story. I’m ready to fully embody Muzan again."
Kazuki Kato (Kokushibo)
"I’ve been in several stage adaptations of ‘Weekly Shonen Jump’ manga, but being part of ‘Demon Slayer’ is truly special. Watching ‘Entertainment District Arc’ on stage moved me to tears. I feel both the excitement and the weight of stepping into this world. Though I appear in a video performance as Kokushibo this time, I will do my best to meet fan expectations."
Jin Aoki (Akaza)
"When I played Akaza in ‘Mugen Train,’ my scenes were compressed into just 15 minutes, making it one of the most physically demanding performances I’ve done. This experience helped shape me as an actor. Now, I am honored to once again be part of the Upper Rank demons. This time, I appear in a video role, but I will channel all my strength into portraying Akaza’s presence."
Kenji Urai (Doma)
"I’m a huge fan of the ‘Demon Slayer’ manga and anime, and I never imagined I’d be part of this world. When I received the role offer, I was so excited I could barely contain myself! Putting on the wig and costume felt like a dream come true. Also, the role of Doma was originally played by Mamoru Miyano in the anime, and since I’ve played one of his previous roles on stage before, I feel honored to follow in his footsteps. He even gave me his personal encouragement!"
