The latest installment in the popular Macross series has unveiled new details, including an open audition for its next songstress. The Macross × Sunrise “New Macross” Super-Dimensional Diva Audition 2025 officially begins today, March 2, with applications open until April 30. Eligible applicants must be women aged 13 to 22 residing in Japan. (Applicants under 18 require parental consent.)

Audition Theme Song "Ai to Ai" Released

The Macross series’ latest anime will feature music produced by the powerhouse collaboration of FlyingDog and Lantis (Bandai Namco Music Live). To support the auditions, the official audition theme song, "Ai to Ai", has been released.

Additionally, a special audition campaign titled "Ai to Ai - Cover Performance Project" has been announced. Each week, past Macross divas and special guests will perform the audition song in a series of videos. The first of these performances features Minori Suzuki, who won the Macross Δ audition and played the heroine Freyja Wion.

About the Macross Series

Marking its 40th anniversary on October 3, 2022, the Macross franchise debuted with Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982) and has since expanded into multiple TV series, OVAs, and feature films.

A pioneer in sci-fi anime, Macross is known for its unique combination of:

Audition Process
1️⃣ First Round (Web Entry)
Submit an application form with a self-introduction and singing performance.
Provide a recent (within 3 months) photo and video.
Upload a performance of the audition song "Ai to Ai" on YouTube (public or unlisted) and submit the URL.
Required photos: one bust-up and one full-body shot.

2️⃣ Second Round (Online) – Late June 2025

3️⃣ Final Round (In-Person) – Late July 2025, Location: Tokyo
