Experience the World of Masamune Shirow! First Major Exhibition Featuring "Ghost in the Shell" to be Held at Setagaya Literary Museum
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Setagaya Literary Museum, the first-ever major exhibition allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the creative world of Masamune Shirow, titled [Masamune Shirow's World Exhibition ~ "Ghost in the Shell" and the Journey of Creation ~], has been announced. It will be held from April 12 to August 17, 2025. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Setagaya Literary Museum, Kodansha, and Parco, with special cooperation from Masamune Shirow.
Masamune Shirow is a renowned manga artist known for works such as "Ghost in the Shell," "Appleseed," and "Dominion." From the 1980s through the 1990s, Shirow depicted cutting-edge technology, which at the time had yet to become widespread, through his manga. His influence on creators around the world has been profound. This exhibition will showcase the creative journey of Shirow, from his early work "Black Magic" to his most famous work, "Ghost in the Shell," as well as his more recent pieces.
The key visual released for the exhibition features some of Shirow's most iconic works, including "Ghost in the Shell," heightening fans' anticipation. The exhibition will also offer numerous original goods, brand collaboration items, and even special collaborations with artists. Merchandise and ticket information will be announced on the official website and social media channels in the near future.
The date of the exhibition's announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of the movie "GHOST IN THE SHELL" in 1995, and also marks the 30th anniversary of the Setagaya Literary Museum. This dual anniversary makes this upcoming exhibition highly anticipated.
