Kyoto Animation’s upcoming TV anime CITY THE ANIMATION is officially set to premiere in July 2025! Along with this announcement, the first key visual and additional cast members have been revealed.

What is CITY THE ANIMATION?

The anime is based on the girls’ run comedy manga CITY by Keiichi Arawi, serialized in Morning (Kodansha) from 2016 to 2021. The story follows the quirky yet charming residents of an ordinary “CITY”, focusing on:
✔ Midori Nagumo – A broke college student always finding herself in bizarre situations
✔ Niikura – Midori’s junior who aspires to be a photographer
✔ Wako Izumi – A mysterious girl with an unusual charm

First Key Visual Captures the Spirit of CITY!

The first key visual encapsulates the anime’s lively ensemble cast, cleverly integrating them into the series logo. Kyoto Animation’s staff expressed their hope that “viewers will fall in love with every character”, emphasizing the anime’s dynamic and interconnected storytelling.
