"WITCH WATCH" to Air Consecutive Two-Cour Starting April Next Year; New Trailer and Additional Cast Announced

The TV anime WITCH WATCH will air consecutive two-cour episodes starting April 2025 on the MBS/TBS network at 5:00 PM. Along with this announcement, the first PV (promotional video) and additional cast information have been revealed. Mikako Komatsu will voice Yuri Makuma, Rie Takahashi will voice Kara Minami, Kukumi Ureshino will be voiced by Konomi Kohara, and Tenryu Kiyomiya will be voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka.

The first PV offers a glimpse into the unpredictable and challenging cohabitation of Nico, a witch-in-training, and Morihito, her familiar and a descendant of ogres. Highlights include Nico cheerfully greeting Morihito on a futon with "Please take care of me for a long time~" and Morihito struggling to keep Nico from standing out at school—only for Nico to steal the spotlight with flashy magic. The trailer features an array of whimsical and chaotic scenes, showcasing the series' unpredictable and extraordinary nature.

The manga WITCH WATCH by Kenta Shinohara, known for SKET DANCE and Astra Lost in Space, is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story follows Nico, a witch-in-training, who begins living with Morihito, her childhood friend and a high schooler with ogre powers. While Nico is excited to reunite with her childhood friend, Morihito has the mission of protecting Nico from prophesied disasters as her familiar. The series blends magical mishaps caused by Nico's unpredictable spells and the dynamics of two teens living together, promising a delightful and mysterious magical comedy.

■Mikako Komatsu (Yuri Makuma)

Q1: What do you find appealing about this work?
"The level of detail in portraying otaku culture is impressive! There are so many fields and genres within the otaku world, and the depth of information is astounding. Personally, I was deeply moved when I understood the meaning behind the title WITCH WATCH!"

Q2: What’s your approach to playing Yuri Makuma?
"Yuri-sensei speaks incessantly in her mind, so keeping up with her rapid-fire pace is key. The quick transitions between her inner and outer voice are challenging yet fun. Her interactions with other characters, especially Ureshino, are rapid and full of energy, which I thoroughly enjoy portraying!"

■Rie Takahashi (Kara Minami)

Q1: What do you find appealing about this work?
"The dialogues are sharp yet quirky, and before you know it, the characters’ heartfelt moments warm your heart. It’s hard to describe, but it feels like Shinohara-sensei poured everything into this work, making every frame captivating."

Q2: What’s your approach to playing Kara Minami?
"I’ve grown up laughing at Shinohara-sensei’s works, so being cast as the lively Kara is such an honor. The recording sessions are full of hilarious directions from the director, which I tackle wholeheartedly. Kara’s bright and vibrant personality adds extra energy to Nico’s world!"



■Konomi Kohara (Kukumi Ureshino)

Q1: What do you find appealing about this work?
"I think the charm lies in the fact that there are no 'normal' characters! (laughs) The recording sessions are lively and full of laughter, thanks to the wonderfully unique characters crafted by the author. It’s a series that will leave viewers feeling happy!"

Q2: What’s your approach to playing Kukumi Ureshino?
"At first glance, she seems calm and gentle, but there’s more to her character. While I felt nervous, it was also exciting to bring her to life. Her humanity makes her endearing, and I hope viewers will enjoy seeing her character unfold."

■Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Tenryu Kiyomiya)

Q1: What do you find appealing about this work?
"There isn’t a single dull character! Each one has their unique depth, and the balance between humor and subtle romance is perfectly executed. I found myself laughing out loud at home while reading this."

Q2: What’s your approach to playing Tenyu Kiyomiya?
"This role felt natural to play, even with Tenyu’s eccentricities. I aimed to portray him as a believable student council president in this unique world. Despite his quirks, he’s someone you can empathize with—so please root for him!"
