‘Takopi’s Original Sin’ Anime Adaptation Announced with Teaser Visual and PV Release
The manga Takopi’s Original Sin has officially been announced for an anime adaptation. Along with this announcement, a teaser visual and promotional video (PV) have been released, with TBS handling the planning and production. Further updates will be revealed during a special stage event at Jump Festa 2025 on the 22nd, where special guests are also scheduled to appear.
Serialized as a short-term series on the Shonen Jump+ manga app from December 2021 to March 2022, the story presents the harsh realities faced by Shizuka, a girl who never smiles, as seen through the perspective of Takopi (Nnu-Anu-Kf), a "Happy Alien" who suddenly appears before her. The story offers a biting reflection of modern society.
The story begins with a lifeform called a "Happian (Happy Alien)" who arrives on Earth with the mission to spread happiness. Rescued from a crisis by an elementary school girl named Shizuka, the alien is given the name "Takopi" due to its appearance, and the two begin to interact. Shizuka, who is subjected to severe bullying, finds Takopi unable to understand the concept of bullying. Using a variety of mysterious "Happy Tools," Takopi tries to cheer her up. However, the gears of fate start to shift drastically when Takopi entrusts one of these tools to Shizuka.
The series tackles issues such as bullying, domestic violence, and toxic parenting, resonating deeply with readers and creating a significant buzz. Despite being a short-term serialization, it recorded the highest number of views among concurrent series and ranked 3rd in the “This Manga is Amazing! 2023” (Male Category). The two-volume series has surpassed a total circulation of 1.4 million copies.
