Hell Teacher Nūbē Returns After 26 Years! New Anime Premieres Summer 2025 with Ryotaro Okiayu Reprising His Role as Nūbē
After 26 years, a brand-new TV anime for Hell Teacher Nūbē is set to air on TV Asahi in the summer of 2025. Alongside this announcement, a casting reveal video was released, confirming that Ryotaro Okiayu will reprise his role as the protagonist, Meisuke “Nūbē” Nueno.
Ryotaro Okiayu Returns as Nūbē
The animation will be produced by Studio KAI. In the casting reveal video, fans can hear the iconic line spoken by Nūbē when unleashing the power of his “Demon Hand,” usually concealed under a glove. The latter half of the video features a comment from Okiayu himself, expressing his excitement about the project.
Nūbē, played by Okiayu, is a bright and kind elementary school teacher beloved by his students. While he battles against supernatural threats like yokai and evil spirits, he also has a clumsy and humorous side. Okiayu shared his thoughts on returning to the role:
“I received a heartfelt message from creators Makura-sensei and Okano-sensei, asking me to protect Class 5-3’s students once more. And so, I once again bear the demon’s power in my left hand! While I could say much more, I’ll leave it at this for now (laughs). Here’s a line I’m excited to deliver again: ‘Heaven and Earth, lend me your power! Subjugate the demons and usher in the dawn. Don’t you dare lay a finger on my students!’ Please look forward to this new Hell Teacher Nūbē in the Reiwa era!”
Kids Voice Acting Auditions Announced
The production has also launched the “Kids Voice Actor Audition” campaign. The grand prize winner will voice a student character in the anime and have their likeness turned into an animated student of Dōmori Elementary School. Applicants must be elementary school students (Grades 1–6) without agency representation and available for a recording session in late March 2025. Applications close on January 10, with results announced on February 14, 2025.
