Universal Studios Japan (USJ), located in Konohana-ku, Osaka, announced on the 19th that the opening of the expansion area "Donkey Kong Country" at "Super Nintendo World," initially scheduled for this spring, will be postponed to the second half of 2024.

The management company, USJ Co., Ltd., explained, "Although the development of this expansion area is already in its final stages, we have determined that a further period of adjustment is necessary to enhance the unprecedented value of the experience and increase its completion."

Furthermore, they stated, "We deeply apologize to all guests who have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the expanded 'Super Nintendo World.' We will announce the new opening date as soon as it is decided, and we are committed to providing a world-class experience that exceeds the expectations of our guests."

"Super Nintendo World," which debuted at USJ in March 2021, is a popular area featuring Nintendo characters like Mario. The area is set to expand to 1.7 times its current size with the eagerly awaited phase two, "Donkey Kong Country," originally slated to open in spring 2024.

"Donkey Kong Country" is a lush and grand area where the character Donkey Kong and his friends reside. The area's highlight, "Donkey Kong's Crazy Cart," involves riding a cart through the jungle, dodging obstacles, and jumping, delivering an exhilarating experience. Promotion for the attraction had already begun.
